Moderated by Elizabeth Swain Saturdays, 10a-1p beginning February 7th Class fee: $435 for 12 week session, $395 early bird discount (due by 2/1)* Class size: 18-20 ~ Open to actors of all ages The workshop will explore the performance of plays from different periods of theatre history. Beginning with Shakespeare and verse performance, we will build a trust in and relish for the language by investigating the text for clues to character and action. Next up will be the Restoration period in England, when theatrical conditions and the spirit of the plays significantly changed and language demands became arguably more challenging. We will also study the works of the late eighteenth century authors, Goldsmith and Sheridan, and the plays of Moliere. Through salon work, movement and other exercises we will discover the worlds of these plays, and bring them to full and vibrant stage life in our scene work. *Please note: Antaeus Academy does not offer refunds. If you are unable to complete a class for some reason, a reimbursement of class credit is available, good towards any future Antaeus class. |
