Our mission becomes public as we reach out to elementary and high school students -- to teach, to play, to debate, to instill in young people a love for the ideas and stories that tie us together across the boundaries of race and class. And with adult education we strive to train our audiences as well– using innovative programming to increase their appetite for the riches of well-performed classical fare.
Young Audiences
At our new facility, we’ll continue to sponsor events like our annual Shakespeare monologue contest for Los Angeles High School students, and work hand-in-hand with educators to facilitate student opportunities to attend plays that bring to life what they’ve been studying in the classroom. Productions will be offered in time frames that correspond to the school day. Antaeus will offer six yearly “ClassPlay” events for middle school students – interactive workshops where younger students and Antaeus members create and present improvisations of well-known classical plays.
