Wood Demon Tablework The first day of rehearsal for the mainstage production of The Wood Demon began at the table -- a continuation of the nearly three years of study of the text, through three intensively prepared staged readings and a fully-staged classics lab production at Taper, Too.

 Weeks of rehearsal continue in
Room A of the Taper Annex.

Rehearsal Room A, Taper Annex

Across the street at the Mark Taper Forum, the auditorium is being transformed for the first time in its history into an arena stage -- a fully "in-the-round" configuation.

A highlight for both the cast and the Taper staff is a series of special performances for the "Young Audience Program." The boisterous and vividly responsive high-schoolers from around Los Angeles inspire the company with their energy and attention.

Discussion after YAP Performance
The run of Wood Demon was an exciting experience for both the actors and the thousands of theatregoers who attended over the six weeks' run. For the Antaeus Company, it proved that a permanent classical company does indeed have a place in Los Angeles, and that audiences are hungry for the depth and richness of community that only a skilled ensemble can fully realize onstage. For now and for the future, the Antaeus Company in determined to provide such an ensemble.
