The
Antaeus Company will premiere a sparkling new Commedia dell'Arte
show, specially prepared for the NoHo International Theatre and
Arts Festival 2000. The show, entitled "Pedrolino and the
Hankie of Doom, or, He Thought It Was Pesto, but It's Not,"
will be presented in two performances only at the Secret Rose
Theatre in North Hollywood, on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday,
June 25 at 3:30 pm each day.
Directed by John Achorn, "Pedrolino and the Hankie of Doom"
will feature Antaeus members and Guest Artists, including (in
alphabetical order) John Achorn, John Apicella, Sarah Cathcart,
Terry J Evans, Wendy Gough, Emily Johnson, Richard Miró
and Karen Stone.
The show will feature the traditional characters of Italy's Commedia
dell'Arte ("The Comedy of the Artists"): Pantalone,
the old Venetian miser; Dottore, the pedant; Pedrolino, Arlecchino,
and Columbina, the comical servants; Capitano, the blustering,
cowardly soldier; and a pair of young lovers. The set elements
were designed by Dean Cameron, and the authentic leather Commedia
masks were designed and constructed by John Apicella.
The event is free, but tickets are required, and will be available
after 2:00 pm on the day of performance at the Theatre Pavilion
tent on the Festival Grounds, on Lankershim Boulevard between
Magnolia Boulevard and the new North Hollywood Metro Station
on Chandler Boulevard.
The Secret Rose Theatre is at 11256 Magnolia Boulevard in the
NoHo Arts District. Further information, including downloadable
photos, can be found at www.Antaeus.org.
