CLASSICAL STYLES FAQ’S -- FALL 2007
 
Q:        WHO TEACHES?
A:        The class is taught by Jeanie Hackett along with a rotating group of moderators.  Past moderators include Annette Bening, Dakin Matthews, Daniel Sullivan, Alfred Molina, Gregory Itzin, Olympia Dukakis, Stefan Novinski, Mark Rucker, Andy Robinson, Stephanie Shroyer, Jessica Kubzansky, Tom Moore, Kate Burton, Jonathan Lynn, Nike Doukas, Alan Mandel, Bart DeLorenzo, Sheldon Epps, and many others.   Every other week features a different moderator, so that actors discover a variety of approaches to the work, and a community of artists who are passionate about working on the classics.
 
 
Q:        WHAT IS THE TEXTUAL FOCUS OF THIS SESSION?
A:        The upcoming session focuses on Shakespeare, The Greeks, and Shaw, for one month each.
 
 
Q:        WHAT TECHNIQUES ARE USED / TAUGHT?
A:        Classical Styles is a scene study class.  In addition, script analysis, voice and movement for classical text, using verse, rhetoric, and classical language.
 
 
Q:        HOW IS THE CLASS STRUCTURED?
A:        Five scenes are presented each class for various moderators.
 
Students will present at least THREE scenes, and will most likely have the opportunity to re-work TWO of those scenes.
 
The class culminates in a presentation of scenework for Antaeus Company members and invited guests. 
 
 
Q:        HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE IN THE CLASS?
A:        24 people will be in the class.
 
 
Q:        WHAT IS THE FEE AND HOW DO I PAY?
A:        The fee is $500 if paid in full at the start of the session or $190 if paid monthly ($570 total).   You can make a check payable to “The Antaeus Company.”
